A sheriff's deputy has been accused of raping a female inmate, authorities said. Marchon C. Hamilton, 50, of Buffalo, was suspended and arraigned on a charge of first-degree rape Monday before city Judge James A.W. McLeod, The Buffalo News reported. Hamilton was sent Monday to the holding center, where he has worked for 13 years, on $25,000 bail. He was being transferred to the Niagara County Jail at the request of prosecutors, who cited his familiarity with the Erie County facility. A three-week investigation by the Sex Offense Unit followed a complaint by the woman that she had been sexually assaulted by Hamilton, Erie County Sheriff Patrick Gallivan said. |
