A 25-year-old Bexar County deputy is behind held in the Bexar County Jail on $25,000 bond January 28 after he allegedly sold drugs to jail inmates. Michael John Hernandez was arrested a day earlier at an undisclosed location on the city's Northeast Side after he was followed by undercover officers, Bexar County Chief Deputy Ruben Garcia said. 'He (Hernandez) met with an unknown individual,' Garcia said. 'Officers were able to observe a transaction, that based on their experience and training, appeared to be a drug transaction and a hand delivery.' Undercover officers confiscated 12 grams of methamphetamines and seven grams of cocaine, Garcia said. Hernandez was charged with possession with intent to deliver drugs. Garcia said the arrest came after jail staff received information from a credible and reliable source that a jail officer was taking contraband into the jail. Hernandez is on administrative leave without pay. |
