An Outagamie County jailer allegedly attacked by an inmate will be off the job the rest of the week because of her injuries. Sheriff's deputies say Kao Xiong attacked the jailer last weekend while he was being brought back to his cell from the visiting booth. The correctional officer suffered leg and back injuries. Xiong was shot and wounded by a Grand Chute officer August 29th. Police say he was armed with a machete-type knife and advanced toward officers, ignoring their commands. Xiong is now being held in the jail's segregation unit. The Outagamie County district attorney's office is reviewing the possibility of additional charges against Xiong. |
