A woman who was mistakenly released from the Oklahoma County Jail turned herself into authorities February 7, police said. Linda Island, 34, was convicted of federal charges of mail fraud and distributing drugs. She was being held at the Oklahoma County Jail waiting to be transferred to federal prison when county jail authorities received a letter Thursday from the U.S. Marshal's Office saying that Island should be released. The jail went ahead and released her. The U.S. Marshal's Office realized its mistake and Island turned herself in shortly after, Mark Myers reported. |
