Incidents at Conn. Prison Under Investigation

Two new allegations of misconduct at the state prison for women are being investigated by the state Department of Correction.
A DOC spokesman said Monday that one incident involves a physical assault claim by a supervisor at the Janet S. York Correctional Institution.
Officials are investigating a report that Major Rachel Torres pulled a correction counselor's arm during a dispute with a disruptive inmate, said spokesman Brian Garnett.
Torres claims she was trying to protect the counselor from harm by the inmate, Garnett said.
Officials are also looking into whether correction officer Christina Wilcox had an inappropriate relationship with an inmate.
Wilcox, who joined the department in December 1999, has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. Attempts to reach her were unsuccessful.
The two investigations of the incidents comes judge days after officials said that food service supervisor Raul Laffitte was placed on paid administrative leave while they investigate whether he sexually assaulted an inmate. The investigation into the allegations continues, Garnett said.
