Authorities investigate whether jail shooting was scheme
By Associated Press

Investigators at the Washington D.C. jail are reportedly looking into whether a shooting last month was part of a plot to make money.
The Washington Post reports authorities believe four inmates wounded in the incident actually planned the shooting.  Investigators think one inmate shot himself and the three others.
According to the Post, authorities believe the four planned to claim the jail failed to ensure their safety.
The newspaper says one inmate allegedly told investigators about the scheme because he was upset about the severity of his injury -- and that he wasn't the shooter.
Investigators are also looking into whether a corrections officer or a contractor smuggled the handgun used in the incident into the jail.
