Top IRA prisoners Walk Free Under Peace Process

Four members of the IRA's infamous ``Balcombe Street Gang'' which killed two British policemen in a 1975 hostage siege walked free from prison last week as part of the Northern Ireland peace process, television reports said. The men -- Martin O'Connell, Harry Duggan, Eddie Butler, and Hugh Doherty -- were serving life sentences for the two murders and several bomb and gun attacks in Britain.
They were caught two years after the siege in London's Balcombe Street. Their release was approved by the Irish government last week. Northern Ireland's peace deal includes provisions for members of guerrilla groups to be released within two years depending on the crime and provided the group maintains a ceasefire. The Balcombe four were transferred to Ireland's Portlaoise prison from British custody last May. The transfers were in line with a European convention designed to allow prisoners to serve their sentences near their families.

Do you know someone who has been arrested in Waco or McLennan County? It’s important to find a good Waco lawyer to represent you in the matter involving your own liberty. Look for the best Waco Criminal Defense Attorney that you can find. Whether you have been accused rightly or wrongly, it’s important to know your legal rights that concern whether you go to jail.
