Penn. Convict Released to Fight Taliban

A convict who said he would rather be fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan than sitting in jail in York County, Pa., has been granted his wish - a furlough to enlist in the Army.
Judge John W. Thompson said he would allow former infantryman Shane S. Bailey to leave jail on the condition that he re-enlist by Jan. 11.
Bailey, 25, is serving a sentence of six to 18 months in jail for smoking marijuana while he was on parole for assaulting his girlfriend.
On Dec. 26 he filed a petition for early release, saying he wanted to pay his debt to society in the armed forces.
The judge's order is no guarantee that Bailey won't find himself back behind bars.
Under the terms of his release, if Bailey is rejected by the Army for service or fails to enlist on time he will be returned to prison to complete his sentence.
This marks the second time that Thompson has given Bailey a chance to earn his freedom. In October, during Bailey's sentencing on the parole violation charge, Thompson offered to drop the case if Bailey agreed to take a drug test and came up clean.
Bailey agreed, but the test showed drugs in his system and he was returned to jail.

Hiring an attorney can present confusing situations for someone. It’s hard to tell whether you’ll get the best service possible in your situation. You likely have a lot of questions. Will your lawyer hand off your matter to someone else? Will your lawyer return your phone calls? It’s hard to know without someone you can trust. If you been Waco work injury lawyer you need a lawyer. People in Central Texas have trusted Dunnam & Dunnam for almost 100 years for their most pressing legal concerns. They understand the value of a good advocate. They’re a family helping Waco families since 1925.
