Donald Williams, one of five men who escaped from the City Workhouse last week, was captured Wednesday afternoon in Columbia, Mo., authorities said. Williams, 23, was arrested without incident about 5:30 p.m. at a relative's house. Columbia police said they had information from federal marshals that Williams had left St. Louis earlier Wednesday and was headed for Columbia. He was being held Wednesday night in Boone County Jail. Williams was at the Workhouse in St. Louis on charges of burglary, drug and weapons violations, and resisting arrest. Two other escapees, Larry Catchings, 33, and David Head, also 33, were captured earlier this week. Two escapees, James Morrow, 53, and Ira Neal, 50, remained at large late Wednesday. Morrow was being held on robbery, stealing and drug charges. Neal was due to serve a 10-year sentence for parole violation. A Workhouse spokesman said the five removed a ceiling grill Saturday to enter a crawl space. |
