'Prisoners of Age' Exhibit to Travel from Alcatraz To Eastern State Penitentiary Historic Site

Eastern State Penitentiary Historic Site will host Ron Levine and Michael Wou's "Prisoners of Age'' exhibit during the 2002 tour season. The critically-acclaimed exhibit will travel to Philadelphia from San Francisco, where it was shown in the former Federal Penitentiary on Alcatraz Island from September 2000 to March 2001. The new season at Eastern State will open to the public on May 4, and will run through November 10. A reception on May 2 from 5:30 to 7:30 will showcase the new exhibits and art installations for the season.
Accompanied by written excerpts of conversations with officers and inmates, Levine's striking photographs tell the stories of elderly men living behind bars rather than in retirement homes. While visiting six North American Correctional facilities from 1996 to 2000, he captured the complexity of a subject many people take for granted.
The exhibition of photographs features 25 haunting portraits produced as four-by-eight foot prints, as well as 40 framed 20x20 prints. In conjunction, Levine and Wou have published a 208-page hard-cover companion book.
'Prisoners of Age'' will be exhibited in Cell Block Two of Eastern State Penitentiary. The cell block is 173 years old, and the corridor has a twenty- foot barrel vaulted ceiling and eight corridor skylights. It held female inmates for much of the penitentiary's history. Cell Block Two also housed Eastern State's geriatric inmates - the 'old timers'' - during the final decades of the penitentiary's active use.

Hiring an attorney can present confusing situations for someone. It’s hard to tell whether you’ll get the best service possible in your situation. You likely have a lot of questions. Will your lawyer hand off your matter to someone else? Will your lawyer return your phone calls? It’s hard to know without someone you can trust. If you been hurt in a rear end collision you need a lawyer. People in Central Texas have trusted Dunnam & Dunnam for almost 100 years for their most pressing legal concerns. They understand the value of a good advocate. They’re a family helping Waco families since 1925.
