2001 20 minutes American Correctional Association Inmates refuse to leave the yard and return to their cells. An inmate has taken a correctional officer hostage. Two inmates have escaped. Who responds to these situations? The answer is a highly-skilled group of people known generally as correctional emergency response teams (CERT). This video examines how members of CERT are selected and trained. It also uses simulated situations to show how CERT operates safely and efficiently.
