| Arizona Escapee Back In Custody After Nearly Four Years |

An Arizona Department of Corrections inmate who walked away from a Glendale work crew on August 8, 1998, is back in custody. Bradley D. Hess, 37, is in custody of Corrections Corporation of America's private prison in Florence. Inmate Hess was arrested on March 13, 2002 by US Customs agents at the Arizona/ Mexico border and was charged with the transportation of marijuana for sale. He has since been convicted for this crime in federal court and is awaiting sentencing. An Arizona Department of Corrections detainer is in place in the event that Hess is released from federal custody. He faces escape charges and must fulfill the remainder of his Arizona sentence. Hess was serving a five-year sentence for Aggravated DUI. He was one year into the sentence when he escaped. Hess walked away from a work site in Glendale at the city welding shop. |
