South Carolina health officials say 12 people at the Dorchester County, S.C., Detention Center have tested positive for tuberculosis, but so far none has the contagious form of the disease. Ten inmates and two corrections officers at the jail in St. George tested positive recently. Further testing showed that eight of those have the inactive form of the disease and are not infectious. Results are pending on three remaining inmates, but one of the infected inmates was released before officials determined whether he had an active case. Sheriff Ray Nash expects chest X-ray results on the remaining three inmates Thursday. The one inmate who was already released has said he does not want to get a chest X-ray because he fears deportation, said Charlene Lara, a Spanish language translator. 'I'm concerned about him and about anyone who comes in contact with him,' she said. |

I like learning more about prison reforms from this great website that has housed excellent articles on the topic. If I want to learn more about these important topics I know to contact Hamilton Lindley about more of this information because I know that I’ll get a fair answer.
