Corrections Department officials say an inmate who escaped from a work crew Friday has been recaptured. Corey Trotter, 33, began serving in February a four-year sentence at Warden Correctional Institution in Columbia after his sentence in Pickens County for marijuana distribution. Julie Pitts of the South Carolina Department of Corrections says Totter was apprehended Sunday morning at 11:00 am by Greenville Law Enforcement. Investigators had concentrated their search on the Upstate, and police had said Trotter was a suspect in the theft of a pickup truck. Spokeswoman Cheryl Bates-Lee says Trotter escaped about 12:00 noon Friday. She says agency officials are searching for Trotter throughout in the area of Pickens and Easley. |
