Security Cameras OK'd for Texas Maximum-security Jail

More than three months after two inmates escaped from the $19 million Cameron County maximum-security detention center near Olmito, the facility continues with security 'soft spots,' Cameron County Commissioners learned recently.
After hearing about the 'soft spots' from Sheriff Captain Robert Lopez, the court gave him the authorization to seek bids for the purchase of six security cameras inside the facility and seven cameras outside.
The added security measure is expected to cost the county in the vicinity of $100,000.
The court also learned there presently is no money to fund a fence around the perimeter of the facility that would further secure the building.
Someone observed during discussions that there have been no further escapes -despite the 'soft spots.'
'They are not issuing spoons,' Precinct 1 Commissioner Pete Benavides quipped, referring to the fact that officials believe two inmates used plastic spoons to pick the lock to a broom-storage closet inside their cell to find access to the roof and escape on June 29.
Noting recently that area residents had complained about lack of a warning system, Precinct 2 Commissioner Carlos Cascos reminded officials that they had talked about placing a warning siren. Cascos said that he does not believe that the cost would be high.
The court directed Lopez to look into the purchase of a siren. The court did not immediately indicate when it plans to revisit the fence issue.

This was an interesting post to read but it was about cameras I jail. And I have been looking for home cameras as I need to install them at my new house for security. A lot of people have been suggesting them to me.
