Former Texas Jailer Admits to Sex With Inmate

A Daingerfield man who can no longer work as a jailer has pleaded guilty to improper sexual activity with a person in custody.
Former Morris County jailer Wesley Kyle Harrison, 21, was given two years probation and fined $1,000 on Oct. 31 by the court. The maximum sentencing for the state jail felony charge is up to two years in prison.
District Attorney Jim Stanley said the Texas Rangers thoroughly investigated the case and based on their findings, he recommended the sentencing. Harrison made his plea last week.
Harrison, who had worked at the jail for five months, was arrested and fired March 21, the same day a female inmate made her complaint.
He was charged with violating the civil rights of a person in custody after an inmate accused him of sexual assault. The indictment said Harrison did 'engage in sexual contact or sexual intercourse with' a woman who was in jail custody.
Harrison had been free on a $5,000 bond.
Stanley said he doesn't know what Harrison's future plans are since he is no longer able to work as a jailer.
