Three inmates are back in police custody a day after they escaped from a Dorchester county prison. The three escaped from Macdougall Prison in Ridgeville on November 3. Police say that it was during a routine traffic stop when they spotted and then captured the runaway inmates - 20-year-old Juan Ashley, 19-year-old Cameron Jones, and 28-year-old Alfred Slaughter. Officials tell WCSC that the inmates scaled a 12-foot barbed-wire fence using thick coats to avoid getting scratched. According to police records, the inmates fled in a getaway car, but were spotted about 12 hours later when the inmates went through a stop sign without stopping. After an intense 15 minute car chase, the inmates' vehicle stalled, and all three were taken into custody by St. George police. |
