Police captured an inmate November 21, one day after prison authorities said he escaped from the Western Missouri Correctional Center. Keith Tripp, 31, is serving 22 years for burglary, robbery and stealing. Tripp was discovered missing during the prison's late evening count. On the morning of the 21st, Tripp apparently stopped at the home of Earl Sayre and asked for a drink of water. Tripp was on foot. Sayre said Tripp told him he had been hunting and his truck had broken down. Sayre gave him the water, and after Tripp left, Sayre searched for the broken down vehicle, but couldn't find it. Suspicious, he called police, KMBC reported. The Missouri Department of Corrections said Tripp was apprehended around 2:40 p.m. Thursday north of Braymer by the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Tripp had stolen a car from the parking lot of an area nursing home, KMBC reported. He was discovered by police driving that car. Tripp faces several possible new charges, including escape, car theft, and resisting arrest, KMBC reported. |
