FBI Examines Use of Taser

The F.B.I. is now investigating how a man arrested in Tennessee walked into the jail and left on a stretcher. Christopher McCargo has been in a coma ever since he was tased in jail nine days ago.

An F.B.I. agent, along with representatives of the N.A.A.C.P., met to see for themselves how many times the taser was fired.

Agent Stan Ruffin signed for the M-26 Taser that's been held under lock and key as evidence. The manufacturer provided software that helped Ruffin and members of the NAACP download data from a chip inside the taser.

Harry Johnson with the Cleveland-Bradley County chapter of the NAACP asked "did the firing of the taser cause his condition? I think that's what we're trying to get at."

"We have nothing to hide. That's not to say we don't have things to explain because they are due an explanation," Bradley County Sheriff Dan Gilley said.

Gilley said the download reveals the M-26 Taser was used one time and for a short duration about the time McCargo was brought to his jail by Cleveland Police. He said jailers had to use it on McCargo minutes after he was brought to the jail on a public intoxication charge because he became combative. Three hours after that McCargo had a seizure and slipped into a coma. But the jail camera did not save the images of what happened.

"The only problem that I would be concerned about is video cameras and video tapes, and that is missing," Johnson added.

Gilley explained "that particular disk can be analyzed and it can be shown whether of not it has been tampered with."

About one-third of our lives are spent at work. With that time invested, it’s reasonable to assume that an employer would want to keep you safe. If you have been Waco construction accident attorney in Waco you can get the legal advice that you need to get on with your life. If your employer does not have workers' compensation insurance and your employer is at fault for your accident, then you can sue your employer directly with the help of a workplace injury attorney.
