Three Maryland inmates stabbed two officers at a maximum-security prison on Wednesday, and one remained hospitalized Thursday according to authorities. More details have been released. The assault at the Maryland House of Correction in Jessup occurred as one of the officers was making rounds Wednesday, said Major Priscilla Doggett, a spokeswoman for the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services. The second officer heard the commotion and was attacked when he went to investigate, Doggett said. One officer, who is 23, was reported in stable condition. The other, 29, was treated and released Thursday. The inmates accused in the attack were separated from the others, and the prison was locked down. No immediate charges were filed. Doggett said the inmates were serving 80 years or life sentences for homicide and weapons crimes. |
