A Kansas prison inmate has been charged with stabbing a federal probation officer with a pen, officials said. Ayad Abo-Seba, 46, was indicted by a federal grand jury on one count of assaulting a probation officer, U.S. Attorney Eric Melgren said. Abo-Seba faces a maximum of 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 for the attack. Melgren said the alleged attack occurred while Abo-Seba was in court on Dec. 6, awaiting sentencing for a conviction on a March 2003 charge of assaulting an officer while he was an inmate at the U.S. Penitentiary at Leavenworth. He was sentenced to more than seven years in federal prison in that case. |
