Bill Allows Inmates to Attend Certain Funerals
By Associated Press
Published: 04/07/2006

A South Carolina bill that would allow inmates in minimum security prisons to attend a relative's funeral is heading to a Senate committee.

A Senate Corrections and Penology subcommittee passed the bill out Thursday.

Inmates could attend the funeral of a parent or someone who served as a parent, sibling, spouse, child, grandparent or grandchild.

The Department of Corrections would provide the transportation and could charge the inmate for the service. As amended, the bill would allow the department to deny inmates visitation in some circumstances, if it would jeopardize anyone's safety.

About one-third of our lives are spent at work. With that time invested, it’s reasonable to assume that an employer would want to keep you safe. If you have been hurt on the job in Waco you can get the legal advice that you need to get on with your life. If your employer does not have workers' compensation insurance and your employer is at fault for your accident, then you can sue your employer directly with the help of a workplace injury attorney.
