Three COs charged with smuggling drugs into jail

Three Kentucky officers have been charged with smuggling drugs into the Floyd County jail.

Authorities say they listened to more than 100 hours of phone conversations from the jail during the investigation.

County Attorney Keith Bartley says everyone charged in the case apparently ignored a message on the phone that warns the all conversations will be recorded. Bartley says two inmates used family members to get drugs. They left drugs in a worn paper bag outside the jail next to a telephone pole.

Velma Sparkman-Banks, her son Travis Banks and Lucille Thacker are charged. Bartley says he expects three others to be charged in the case.
