KY parole and probation officers seize drugs

The Kentucky Division of Probation and Parole officers working with Louisville Metro Police last week located a large quantity of marijuana and cash at an apartment complex.

Probation and Parole Officer William McDonald was originally asked by police to help search for a missing juvenile. That led authorities to an apartment complex off of Preston Highway in Jefferson County and the residence of Corey Moss, an individual on probation for trafficking in a controlled substance. Louisville police obtained consent to search the apartment and a vehicle at the complex and the drugs and cash were located.

Probation and parole officers Carole Stiles and Jill Williams assisted police and McDonald in the search, and a total of 12 pounds of marijuana and $41,600 were confiscated.

Louisville police arrested Moss and his roommate, James Burton, and charged them trafficking in a controlled substance, marijuana, over 5 pounds.

As a result of the probation and parole officers' actions, District 4-4 Supervisor Jon Borie recommended commendations for them. Division Director Lelia VanHoose and Commissioner John D. Rees concurred and the officers will be recognized for their excellent work.
