Martha's Vineyard, MA - Dukes County House of Corrections officer T.J. Roginski pled guilty to one charge of conspiracy to commit assault and battery. He was accused of orchestrating with another officer the beatings of two inmates at the Edgartown correctional facility,

The conspiracy charge carried a maximum sentence of 2-1/2 years' imprisonment. In exchange for the guilty plea, Roginski was sentenced to no jail time and instead to probation for a year, during which time he may not be employed in law enforcement.

An inmate accused Roginski and fellow corrections officer, Michael Trance, of recruiting another inmate to beat a prisoner in a June 2003 incident. Assistant district attorney Lisa Edmonds read a description of a conversation between Roginski and Trance in which they discussed an arrangement that involved inmate Jason Labbe, hitting inmate Paul Garcia.
