The city has reached a tentative agreement with the union representing 8,100 correction officers, Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Correction Officers Benevolent Association union president Norman Seabrook announced Thursday. The new contract covers 27 months from May 2005 through July 2007. The contract provides for a 6.24-percent salary increase. The settlement builds on the one the city had reached with correction officers in September 2005. Besides the pay increase, a one-time lump-sum payment of $1,085 will be paid to each union member. On May 1, 2007, the uniform allowance will be increased by $100, and the city's contribution to the annuity fund will be increased by $475 for all active members. |
