TUCSON, AZ - A male inmate held a female corrections officer hostage in his cell for some six hours Monday night at the Arizona State Prison Complex-Tucson before finally surrendering, authorities said. The officer was uninjured. Monk surrendered to prison officials at 10:38 p.m. (MST) and was taken into custody without incident, according to He said the DOC will prosecute Monk, who has been incarcerated since 1988 after being convicted of armed robbery, sexual assault, kidnapping, aggravated assault, sexual abuse and first-degree burglary.
