GEORGETOWN, SC - A 25-year-old employee at the Georgetown County jail has been arrested after authorities say she took $20 meant for an inmate's account. Sheriff's spokesman Neil Johnson says a visitor at the jail Saturday gave Tikie Quana Sumpter $40 to put in her nephew's account. Johnson says the jailer told the woman she could not give her a receipt because the printer was out of paper. Johnson says the woman later found out just $20 was put in her nephew's account and called authorities. Johnson says investigators found Sumpter opened the envelope, took some money and put the rest in a second envelope and filled it out to look like the aunt only gave the inmate $20. |
