JUNEAU, AK Alaska Governor Frank H. Murkowski has appointed Donna White Director of the Department of Corrections Division of Probation and Parole. White has served as the division's acting director since April. Previously White served as Probation Officer IV with the Board of Parole. The Division oversees close to 120 employees and 5,200 offenders in the community and is responsible for a Victim Services section, statewide sex offender oversight, interstate compact, and maintains a professional relationship with public safety agencies and Village Public Safety Officers (VPSO) in communities where probationers and parolees reside. “Donna White brings an excellent background and experience with the department to this position,” said Commissioner Marc Antrim. White began her career with the department in 1982 as a Correctional Officer at the then new Palmer Correctional Center. In 1983, White became an institutional Probation Officer at Palmer before transferring in 1987 to a field position at the Kodiak office after being promoted to a probation/parole supervisor (PO III). “Probation/Parole is critical to the department's mission to protect the public by incarcerating and supervising offenders,” said Antrim. “Donna White brings a wealth of experience to this position, and we are fortunate to have her on board.” |
