A S.C. Corrections Department officer has been arrested and charged with attempting to distribute drugs to an inmate, the State Law Enforcement Division says. Agents arrested Patricia Fields, 33, of Spartanburg on Jan. 22. She was charged with misconduct in office, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and violation of the state contraband law, SLED said. Fields works at the Northside Correctional Institution in Spartanburg. Fields "did knowingly and willingly possess with the intent to distribute approximately two ounces of marijuana to an inmate" at Northside Correctional, according to arrest warrants. The arrest is the second this week for a Corrections employee. A former Corrections worker was accused of sexual misconduct with an inmate at the Livesay Pre-Release Center in Spartanburg Jan. 21. |
