Detention officer accused of sexual assault

A former Harris County (Texas) juvenile detention officer accused of sexually assaulting two teen boys after promising them he would delete negative reports from their records has surrendered to authorities.
Clarence Edward Brewer Jr., 27, had been missing since he was fired from his job at the Harris County Youth Village earlier this month. He turned himself in last Saturday, said Pasadena police spokesman Martin DeLeon.
Brewer has been charged with three counts of sexual assault of a child.
The two boys, ages 15 and 16, told officials shortly after Christmas that Brewer had taken them to an equipment storage shed and sexually assaulted them on Dec. 24. The 15-year-old claims he was assaulted a second time four days later.
Brewer's "duties were generic in that he supervised youths and (oversaw) day-to-day activities, such as bed time," said Harvey Hetzel, executive director of the Harris County juvenile probation department. "There was credibility to the promises to the victims."
Police would not comment on what promises Brewer might have filled for the boys.
Brewer had worked at the facility for about seven months and a background check before he was hired found no past criminal history in Harris County.
If convicted, Brewer faces between 10 and 25 years in prison on each charge.
