| Employee arrested for stealing from inmates |

SHREVEPORT, LA - Shreveport police arrested a contract employee for the City Jail`s food services on a charge of felony theft. Elizabeth Byrd, 38, of Shreveport was a manager for ABL Food Services and reportedly took money from inmate accounts. ABL is the company that contracts with the Shreveport City Jail. Byrd reportedly developed a gambling problem and began taking money from inmate accounts to support her habit. A review of jail procedures revealed that she reportedly took $5,835. The inmates will not be out any money, as her employer will be covering the missing funds. |
