CEDAR RAPIDS, MI - Inmates in Linn County Jail are now receiving mumps vaccines after two cases were recently confirmed. “We just saw this as something that needed to be addressed,” said Linn County Sheriff Don Zeller. One of the inmates had left jail when he notified authorities that he had contracted the mumps. Another was still in jail earlier this week. Zeller said measles/mumps/rubella shots were given to some inmates between the ages of 18 and 25 during the first phases of Iowa's campaign against the mumps. Now inmates through age 46 will be offered the vaccine. |
