| Officers stabbed at correctional facility |

FAYETTE, PA - SCI Fayette inmate Yassin Mohamad, of Philadelphia, has been charged with attempted homicide after officials say he stabbed two officers Tuesday morning. State police report that correctional officers Floyd Addis and Thomas Jellots were attacked while performing a routine yard check. They entered a small fenced-in area adjacent to Mohamad's cell. Mohamad reportedly pushed his cell door open and attacked the two officers with a metal shank that had been sharpened to a point. The attack continued until the officers forced Mohamad back into the cell. Addis suffered a puncture wound to his left shoulder. Jellots suffered lacerations to the right side of his neck, the back of his right shoulder, right upper arm and his hand. Both were treated at Uniontown Hospital. |
