ROGERSVILLE, MO - Six inmates were sent to a hospital Wednesday after a bus they were riding in crashed here on its way to drop them off at a work program. None of the inmates, nor the driver, suffered life-threatening injuries in the accident, said Rogersville Police Chief Leland McMasters. The crash occurred about 8:45 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. 60 and Missouri 125 as the bus was waiting at a stoplight, McMasters said. A tractor-trailer struck the bus in the rear and propelled the vehicle forward into another tractor-trailer, according to the chief. The accident tied up traffic for about four miles. McMasters said the Missouri State Highway Patrol issued a citation to the driver of the truck that hit the bus from behind. The inmates, from Ozark Correctional Center in Fordland, were participants in a prison work program and on their way to a job in Springfield, according to police. |
