OKLAHOMA CITY, OK - Oklahoma City officials are considering a plan to charge jail inmates for the cost of keeping them in jail. The city doesn't have its own jail and pays Oklahoma County $37.95 per inmate per day. Only those convicted on city charges would be required to pay and the city expects only about 25 percent of convicted inmates to pay the fees. Prisoners will be able to argue they should be exempted for financial reasons. |
