Officials search for escaped inmates

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA - California uthorities are continuing to search for four inmates, who are still on the loose today, following a late night escape from the Riverside County jail in Blythe, officials said.

A larger group of nine broke out of an enclosed outdoor recreation area at about 11 o'clock Thursday night, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

However, five of the inmates were captured about 45 minutes after their escape.

The four inmates who remain free range in age from 23 to 24 and come from Desert Hot Springs, Coachella, and Indio.

They are Renee Chavez, of Desert Hot Springs, Michael Anthony Gonzalez, of Indio, Gregory Villarreal, of Desert Hot Springs, and Robert Carlos Cruz, of Coachella, who is charged with attempted murder.

Shortly after the escape searches were conducted by the sheriff's department, Blythe police, and the California Highway Patrol.

Anyone with information about any of these escaped inmates is asked to contact authorities.
