CROWN POINT, IN - Lake County law enforcement officials are calling for new procedures to help jail inmates post bond as a way to ease crowding at the jail. The Lake County Jail's population has almost doubled during the past four years, to more than 1,000 inmates. Sheriff Rogelio "Roy" Dominguez wants judges to agree to lower bail amounts for common criminal charges and consider holding around-the-clock bail hearings in the jail's courtroom for defendants who face the most serious felony charges. |
