VAN BUREN COUNTY, AR - Van Buren County officials have installed video cameras and reinforced the roof of the county jail after six inmates escaped through the building's roof a week ago. All six have been captured, and Sheriff Scott Bradley says the former fugitives are under lockdown. Bradley also says he fired a jailer who was on duty during the June 20th escape. The escape went undetected for four hours and Bradley says the fired officer wasn't doing his hourly checks. One of the escapees, 39-year-old capital murder suspect William Callahan, had also escaped through the building's roof in February. Bradley said he expects to keep Callahan under lockdown as long as Callahan is in the jail. |
