Three inmates escaped from a Los Angeles County jail Tuesday while working in a laundry warehouse, authorities said. The men, ages 18 to 25, were not believed to be armed. They were discovered missing around 7 p.m. from Pitchess Detention Center in Castaic, about 40 miles north of Los Angeles, said sheriff's Deputy Mike Lorenzi. About 50 sheriff's personnel were searching for the men, he said. The men had convictions of burglary and possession of controlled substances, Lorenzi said. |
