CTDOC trains emergency first responders

WETHERSFIELD, CT - Ninety tactical unit members from of the Connecticut Department of Correction have been trained as emergency first responders in accordance with a Homeland Security directive.

During the two day training, members from the Correctional Emergency Response Team, the Special Operations Group, Situational Control, and K-9 received instruction in incident command as well as staff functions, planning, logistics and the mobilization functions necessary during an emergency. Additional staff will be trained in future sessions.

The Homeland Security Directive orders the development of a National Incident Management System, which enables government, private sector and non-governmental organizations to work together during domestic incidents.
