The Hendricks County prosecutor's office filed the charges last Tuesday. After talking to six female inmates, sheriff's Lt. Dan Williams talked to Koehl, who initially denied the allegations, but then asked to talk to the sheriff. "I gave him the choice of being fired or resigning, and he resigned," Quearry said.
