SANTA FE, NM -Santa Fe County Sheriff's deputies caught a man who had been on the run after escaping from jail a month ago. Santa Fe County Sheriff Greg Solano says Aaron Michael Torraco, 36, was taken into custody in Albuquerque on Saturday. Torraco had been missing since June 20 when he walked out the front door of the jail unnoticed. He had been on his way to help a crew paint the jail's visiting area. Court records show Torraco was arrested in 1998 on a robbery charge and was sentenced in 2002 to five years of probation. He was in jail on an alleged probation violation. Now, Torraco is charged with escaping from jail, a fourth-degree felony. Solano says he'll also be given a higher-risk classification as an inmate. |
