SACRAMENTO, CA - Governor Schwarzenegger's high risk sex offender task force, established earlier this year, will host three public hearings to discuss placement and supervision of high risk sex offenders in California.

The public hearings, to be held in early August, will include task force co-chairs Assemblymember Rudy Bermudez (D-Norwalk), Assemblymember Todd Spitzer (R-Orange), and CDCR Secretary James E. Tilton.

According to the CDCR, these hearings will serve as an opportunity for the public to provide input on supervising and placing high risk sex offenders in communities in California.

Gov. Schwarzenegger established the task force on May 15, 2006 to review the current statutory requirements and departmental policies on notification, placement, monitoring, and enforcement of parole policies regarding high risk sex offenders, and to provide recommendations on how to improve these policies by Aug. 15, 2006.
