| Slain officer's strength, joy remembered at vigil |

JESSUP, MD - More than 400 officers, friends and relatives gathered at the Maryland House of Corrections in Jessup last night for a candlelight vigil honoring the officer stabbed to death last week by two inmates. The slaying of David W. McGuinn, 42, frightened and alarmed corrections officers across the state and has kept the maximum-security prison under lockdown. Last night, a sea of candle-holding mourners, including Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr., illuminated the parking lot on the prison grounds and remembered McGuinn as a fallen hero. Read more.
