Two inmates jailed on murder charges were involved in a fight Jan. 31 at the Pottawatomie County (Okla.) Public Safety Center, resulting in one suffering a broken nose and jaw. Director Rod Bottoms said the fight occurred about 9:30 p.m. between two high-risk inmates jailed in the same maximum security pod at the city facility. Jailers had to break up the fight between Darrell Patterson, 54, and Christopher Gunn, 28, he said. Patterson suffered a broken nose and jaw, Bottoms said. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was treated and released. Bottoms said authorities will now seek felony assault charges against Gunn. No other injuries were reported in the ruckus and both inmates are now jailed in separate cells. Patterson is being held on a first-degree murder complaint. Gunn is jailed on a second-degree murder complaint. Gunn is expected to be transferred into Department of Corrections custody sometime this week. |
