| Women may share juvenile facility space |

BLACK MOUNTAIN, NC - The only minimum security prison for women in Western North Carolina could move to and share a site now housing a state juvenile justice facility in Swannanoa, officials said this week. The 80-inmate Black Mountain Correctional Center for Women has operated in Black Mountain since 1986. But the N.C. legislature last session agreed to require the Department of Correction and the Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention to study whether the prison could move to share property with the Swannanoa Valley Youth Development Center.
