| Boyd becomes Rhode Island's medium security warden |

The West Greenwich native's ascension through the ranks are a common theme in his 22 year corrections career, as his superiors continue to consistently recognize his loyalty and respect for the job. Boyd honed his talents as a corrections officer until 1992 when he became an investigator with the newly-formed Special Investigations Unit. He was chief investigator until 1998. He then became acting deputy warden of the “Throughout his career, Steve has demonstrated his knowledge of institutional operations, management skills, leadership ability, sound judgment, strong work ethic, and integrity,” says Wall.
