ORANGE COUNTY, CA - Inmates beat a sex crime suspect nearly to death after allegedly discovering details of his case through the Sheriff's Department Web site, officials said Wednesday. After the beating, the Sheriff's Department has stopped listing charges on their website. The site shows among other things information about inmates in jail. According to evidence at a preliminary hearing last month, a prisoner asked a relative or a friend to research on the Internet why Fernando Ramirez, 21, was in custody. Investigators believe the contact went to the Web site and clicked on "Who's in jail," according to Deputy District Attorney Scott Steiner.
