| New county prison taking shape |

FRANKLIN COUNTY, PA - The roof is on and much of the face block has been put on the outside walls of the new Franklin County Prison on Opportunity Avenue in the Cumberland Valley Business Park. Curbing defines the entrance to what will be the driveway into the new facility, and subcontractors are installing wiring and breaker panels for the prison's electrical system. "The prison is definitely taking shape," Warden John Wetzel said last week. "All the trades are out there working -- wiring electrical outlets and fixtures, painting the interior walls, installing steel stairways, putting in plumbing." Prison officials are in the process of reviewing the electronic security system with the contractor, and staff members at the current jail are working on developing between 250 and 300 policies in anticipation of the day they will move to the new, roomier facility.
